More Super Bowl Picks

The big news a few weeks ago was Sports Illustrated’s Peter King picking the Falcons to win the Super Bowl over the San Diego Chargers.

This week, another media member has hopped on the bandwagon — CBSSports.com’s Pete Prisco.

Prisco has the Falcons winning the NFC South, earning a first-round bye, downing Philadelphia and Dallas on the way to the final game and then beating the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Look, I’m fine with predictions. I like them and find them interesting. It’s certainly a sign of respect when reputable media members pick your team to win a championship.

But I caution anyone from putting too much stock into them. The Falcons are the type of team that don’t buy into what anyone predicts for them. We all know the games are played on the field, and January and February are a long way away.

I will, however, say that this is definitely a sign — the consensus is that the Falcons have done enough and made enough moves to be considered Super Bowl contenders. That, to me, is the big takeaway from predictions like this.
