If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “You know, I’d really like to get my hair cut by a professional football player,” boy, are you in luck this weekend.

Cornerback Dominique Franks will be serving as a celebrity barber for the annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser on Saturday, March 10 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. to raise money for childhood cancer research at Meehan’s Public House (Click here for a map) located at 227 Sandy Springs Place NE in Sandy Springs.

Every year, volunteers called “Shavees” pledge to shave their heads in solidarity with children who typically lose their hair during cancer treatment while receiving donations from their friends and family. Last year, 69 men and women shaved their heads in the event, raising more than $50,000 for the cause.

Franks will be joined by several other local celebrities as the celebrity barbers for the day.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. This fundraiser has quickly grown into the world’s largest volunteer-driven fundraising program for childhood cancer research, and today the St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
