Manuwai to Turner: Happy to Block For You

When the Falcons swooped in from nowhere to snag Vince Manuwai last week, there were much more questions than answers from fans about the veteran guard.

The main question revolved around whether or not Manuwai was capable of filling the Falcons’ hole at the right guard position. After 105 starts in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars, he certainly seems more than capable.

AJC writer D. Orlando Ledbetter caught up with Manuwai, who didn’t play during the 2011 season, to get a better idea of what he’s been up to, where he fits in and why signing with the Falcons was an easy decision. I won’t steal any of D-Led’s thunder, so please go read his Q&A with Manuwai on his blog, but one point to mention was the short meeting Manuwai had when he was here.

While in Flowery Branch before signing, Manuwai was introduced to running back Michael Turner, who was asked if he wouldn’t mind Manuwai blocking for him. Manuwai’s response: “I told him that I’d be happy to block for him.”

At 6-foot-2, 335 pounds, Manuwai seems like a good guy to have in front of you.
