The much-anticipated jersey launch from Nike has now come and gone.
What does this mean for the Falcons?
Not a whole lot of change.
Nike held the unveiling in New York City on Tuesday amid a packed house of media members. The Seattle Seahawks received a whole new treatment to their uniform, which snatched up most of the attention. For the other 31 teams, the new duds were changed subtly.
In fact, the changes you’ll notice from the new Falcons’ uniform are not aesthetic at all and rather are more in the material they’re made from. Check the photos below.
The new Nike Falcons jerseys will go on pre-sale April 15 at midnight on Falcons365.com. The language will be a bit different, however, as you order. The new Nike authentic jerseys — the same ones the players wear on the field — will now be called “Elite” jerseys. The new Nike replica jerseys will now be called “Game” jerseys. Nike also introduces the “Limited NFL Jersey.”
The material for the Game Jersey is a premium, performance jersey made with matte polyester and flat back mesh. According to Nike, it’s designed to a modern fit, removing excess fabric, and adjusting armhole sizing and sleeve lengths.
The Limited Jersey gives fans the same style and features of the Game Jersey plus Nike Flywire Technology, which provides stabilization of the neck and reduces bulk of the neck and shoulders. This jersey will be embellished with soft, lightweight tackle twill, which offers flexibility and adapts to the form of the body providing zero distraction, according to Nike.
The Elite Jersey has all the bells and whistles of the Game and Limited jerseys while also providing a complete shrink wrap fit. The embellishment is premium with stretch twill offering flexibility while maintaining durability.
The uniforms the Falcons actually wear on the field, however, will have no change to design or material at all in 2012.
Beginning April 15, Falcons365.com will begin pre-sale on Matt Ryan Elite Jerseys, as well as Game Jerseys for Ryan, Roddy White, Michael Turner and Julio Jones. Women’s jerseys will also be available.
Prior to the season, Nike will introduce the customizable jersey option, which will allow you to custom build a jersey to your liking or for your favorite player not already being sold.
In other Nike news, the Vapor Jet gloves, so popular when they launched prior to the Pro Bowl, will be on sale in limited quantities in September.
