Former Falcons quarterback Steve Bartkowski has been named to the 2012 class entering the College Football Hall of Fame, it was announced Tuesday.
Before Bartkowski became the Falcons’ all-time leading passer from 1975-1983, he quarterbacked the California, leading all Division I quarterbacks in passing yards in 1974 with 182 completions for 2,580 yards.
Bartkowski went on to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 1975 draft by the Falcons and created a stunning career in Atlanta that included 23,470 passing yards, 3,330 passing attempts, 12 300-yard games and 154 touchdown passes — all still Falcons franchise records.
Bartkowski is a member of the Falcons Ring of Honor and is also a member of the team’s board of advisors.
Former Falcons Ty Detmer (2004-2005) and Mark Simoneau (2000-2002) are also joining Bartkowski in this year’s class. The induction ceremony will be held Dec. 4 in New York.
