Two years ago when actor Samuel L. Jackson first stepped into the Georgia Dome to shoot the first “Rise Up” commercial spot, he never thought he’d be back doing another version two years later.
But there he was Saturday, at the Falcons’ team headquarters in Flowery Branch, Ga., shooting a couple of particularly powerful TV spots for the team he calls himself a “huge fan” of.
“It’s great that we’ve created a new tradition for the team and the fans that lends some sort of enthusiasm to the city and the fanbase, and hopefully the players embrace it,” Jackson said in an exclusive interview with AtlantaFalcons.com Saturday. “It’s kind of incredible to me that, I talk to players around the league who come here to play and they all stop and watch the ‘Rise Up’ announcement when it comes on.
“They say it’s the best thing in the NFL.”
Jackson’s new TV spots will begin airing in a few weeks. The new shoot locations included the Falcons’ locker room and weight room in Flowery Branch, and without giving much of the dialog away, Jackson puts a particular emphasis on the phrase, “That’s just the way we like it.”
“You always hope that things are going to work the way the people who come up with these ideas plan for it to,” Jackson said. “It’s always wonderful when something takes root like this and spreads like wildfire.”
