During his brief meeting with the Atlanta media after Thursday’s practice, head coach Mike Smith said, to make up for losing Brent Grimes for the season, that Asante Samuel would play left cornerback, Dunta Robinson would play on the right side and Chris Owens would play nickel in the Falcons’ base defense.

“You’ve got to approach it with a little bit of excitement,” Owens said earlier in the week. “It’s a Monday night game. You’ve got to be excited about that. I’m excited about the opportunity. It’s all about being focused, and we’ve got a great challenge with Peyton (Manning) ahead of us. It’s gonna be a good one. It’s gonna be fun.”
