With his traditional “one nugget” of injury information for the media on Monday, head coach Mike Smith announced that he expects cornerback Chris Owens to be back on the field practicing this week.

Owens suffered a head injury during the Week 2 game against Denver and sat out the past two weeks in the league’s concussion protocol. In his stead, the nickelback position has been filled by Dominique Franks and Robert McClain.

Smith said Monday he expects there to be competition at the position this week, leaving it unclear who will start at nickel on Sunday against Washington.
