Tony Gonzalez had a career day against Washington, but it was this miss that haunted him afterward, he told SI’s Peter King

Sports Illustrated’s Peter King recently spent some time with the ageless wonder that is Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez.

In a fantastic piece that lends some great insight into Gonzalez’s health habits and personal life, King detailed what it’s like for Gonzalez to wake up after a game like the win over Washington, when he caught 13 passes of 14 targets.

In the style of Tony Gonzalez, the future Hall-of-Famer was hard on himself about the that got away.

“That’s the way it goes with me,” he told King. “I beat myself up because I’ve made that catch before, and the way I’m wired, that’s a ball I catch.”

King goes in-depth with Gonzalez about how he takes care of his body religiously, even going so far as to be known as the “Food Police” around Flowery Branch with the way he gets on his teammates about what they eat.

If you get a spare 15 minutes, sit down and read this piece. Great stuff.
