Head coach Mike Smith said during his Monday news conference that he’s confident that he’ll get linebacker Sean Weatherspoon back into the mix on the field this week.

Weatherspoon has been out since suffering an ankle injury during a win over the Eagles in Week 8. He has missed the past two games with the injury.

“I am optimistic,” Smith said. “Sean’s worked extremely hard. He will get an opportunity over the next 48 hours to do some field work and hopefully we’ll see where he’s at and get him on the field on Wednesday, but he’s done a nice job in his rehab.”
