The popularity of D-Block, our Web show on AtlantaFalcons.com, has taken off in its second year. What was a must-see show for Falcons fans last year has earned a much wider audience this year.
Featured on ESPN and NFL Network in 2012, D-Block has exploded and has now caught the attention of A-list actor Mark Wahlberg.
In town this week promoting his new movie “Broken City,” which hits theaters Jan. 18, Wahlberg taped a shoutout to the linebackers of D-Block. Click here to view the video or watch above.
Wahlberg plays an ex-cop in “Broken City,” investigating the wife of New York City’s mayor when he finds himself in the middle of a larger scandal. Russell Crowe co-stars in the movie with him.
Make sure to check out the D-Block crew’s reaction to Wahlberg’s shoutout when the latest episode airs on AtlantaFalcons.com Friday evening.
Hosted by linebacker Mike Peterson, D-Block debuted at the start of the 2011 season and is taped — unscripted — each week inside the Falcons’ locker room in Flowery Branch. Comprised of the entire Falcons’ linebacking corps, D-Block’s hosts “keep it 100″ when it comes to uncovering interesting truths and lesser-known backstories about their teammates, coaches and Falcons front office personalities.
D-Block will also be featured on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown prior to Sunday’s 1 p.m. game against the Seattle Seahawks. Sunday NFL Countdown begins at 10 a.m. ET.
