Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff knows that a big to-do for him in the next year is to lock quarterback Matt Ryan up into a contract extension as it expires after next season.
But Dimitroff said Friday at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine that he’s sure a deal will get done at some point in the future, but there’s no rush.
“It’s a priority for us when the time is right. We’re not too anxious about it because we’re confident that it’s going to get done,” Dimitroff told the media. “Our feeling is that Matt’s going to be with us for many years to come and he’s going to be our franchise guy that we’re all very proud of, again, on and off the field. Matt’s what we’re looking for in a quarterback.”
