Stanford tight end Zach Ertz may have a stranglehold on the majority pick in our weekly Mock Monitor, but he’s hearing the footsteps of several cornerbacks creeping up behind him, especially those of Washington CB Desmond Trufant as the likely pick for the Falcons at No. 30 overall.

Trufant joins Mississippi State’s Johnthan Banks and Boise State’s Jamar Taylor as cornerback options for the Falcons in the first round as the mock drafts that have been updated since last week are trending toward the position.

Tight end is still a viable option in the minds of the mock draft makers, and for good reason. With tight end Tony Gonzalez most assuredly calling it a career after 2013, the time to identify his successor could very likely be this April.

With the cornerback position still up in the air for the Falcons right now, drafting one in the first round is looking more and more like a possibility.

There are still some defensive end candidates on the mock drafters’ minds as Texas’ Alex Okafor, Auburn’s Corey Lemonier and Florida State’s Bjoern Werner are hanging around.

What’s your say?
