Falcons, USA Football To Hold Safety Clinic Saturday

Former Atlanta Falcons linebacker and USA Football Master Trainer, Buddy Curry, will conduct a Heads Up Football Player Safety Coach clinic on Saturday, June 22 at Rock Creek Sports Complex in Dawsonville, Ga. Curry will instruct more than 20 Player Safety Coaches representing leagues throughout the state. This group will then teach Heads Up Football to their youth league coaches, players and parents.

Heads Up Football is a comprehensive approach to a better and safer game, encompassing USA Football’s accredited Level 1 Coach Certification Course; Heads Up Tackling techniques; Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) concussion recognition and response protocols, as well as instruction on proper helmet and shoulder pad fitting.

After completing the workshop, Player Safety Coaches will oversee their leagues’ implementation of the highest national coaching standards for youth football. Player Safety Coaches also will monitor practices and games throughout the season.

Former Atlanta Falcons cornerback and Heads Up Football Ambassador Ray Buchanan will speak to the group about the importance of Heads Up Football.

When: June 22, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Helmet and shoulder pad fitting – 8:20 a.m.
Concussion awareness – 9 a.m.
Guest Speaker, Ray Buchanan – 10:30 a.m.
Heads Up Tackling training – 11 a.m.
Heads Up Tackling drills – 1 p.m.
