Tight end Tony Gonzalez proved he didn’t need a long preseason of work when he hauled in a 7-yard touchdown pass from Matt Ryan in the first quarter against the Saints. And the scoring play marked another significant milestone for the 17-year veteran.

Gonzalez became just the third player in NFL history to catch a pass in 17 or more straight seasons, from 1997 to 2013. The only other players to accomplish the feat are wide receiver Jerry Rice (21 straight seasons from 1985-2004) and wide receiver Irving Fryar (17 straight seasons from 1984-2000).

In his career, Gonzalez now has 1,243 receptions for 14,275 yards and 104 touchdowns.
