The Falcons’ 19-13 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9 will be re-broadcast on NFL Network’s NFL Replay at 9 p.m. ET Wednesday.

NFL Replay offers an exclusive look at select games from the previous week in a condensed, 75-minute, high-octane format. With the use of bonus NFL Films and NFL Network footage including never-before-seen camera angles and coach’s commentary combined with exclusive wired sound from the field, locker rooms and sidelines, viewers will experience the game like never before.

The Falcons improved to 8-0 for the first time in franchise history with their 19-13 victory over the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. WR Roddy White broke the franchise record for career receptions with his seven-catch, 118-yard performance.

In seven-plus seasons, White has totaled 577 receptions, topping Terance Mathis’ club record of 573 set between 1994 and 2001.

WR Julio Jones also had a big night in the Falcons Week 9 win, posting his second consecutive 100-yard game after catching five passes for 129 yards.

QB Matt Ryan set a new franchise record for career 300-yard games, completing 24 of 34 passes for 342 yards with a 102.8 passer rating. Ryan has recorded a passer rating above 100 five times this season and 29 times in his career, leading the Falcons to a 29-0 record in those games.

In addition to their impressive aerial attack, RB Michael Turner established the Falcons ground game by rushing for 102 yards on 20 carries with one touchdown in Sunday night’s win. Turner improved on a pair of his franchise records on Sunday, running his 100-yard rushing games total to 27 while punching in his 54th rushing touchdown.

The Falcons head to New Orleans for the first of two meetings with the NFC South Division rival Saints in Week 10.

Corey Peters is getting healthier. Good for us. Bad for them.

Walking through the locker room on the way to his usual Monday news conference after a game, head coach Mike Smith spotted Corey Peters and chatted the young defensive tackle up a bit.

“Hey, I think you’ve still got some rust on you,” Smith said to him.

“Yeah, I know,” Peters said. “You don’t need to tell me that.”

“Oh, yes, I do,” Smith quickly replied.

Peters knew it himself that he isn’t quite at 100 percent in football shape yet, but Smith used pointing it out as a motivator. After all, he expects a lot out of the third-round defensive tackle that quickly earned a starting job his rookie season.

Peters played in just his second game back from a foot injury that kept him out of the entire offseason workout program, training camp, the preseason and the first six weeks of the regular season. Perhaps some rust is expected, all things considered.

Still, Peters played more snaps Sunday than Smith would have liked him to. Keeping Peters on a 15-25 “snap count” was the goal, but Peters played 36 Sunday night against Dallas (largely because of the injury to Peria Jerry). Last week against Philadelphia, he played 20.

Smith sees that number going up even higher in the near future.

“I think in another week or two, he’ll be ready to get back to his normal snap count that he was at last year when we were using him as a starter,” Smith said during his Monday news conference.

Peters has no tackles in his two games back since injury.

The guy on the right is good.

Is there anything you could say about the career Tony Gonzalez has had that wouldn’t end up being a drastic understatement? The guy is football.

He caught his 50th pass of the season during the 19-13 win over the Cowboys, which set yet another mark the greatest tight end to ever play the game can put on his resume.

He joined WR Jerry Rice — great company, if you didn’t know — as the only players in NFL history to record 15 seasons with 50 or more receptions.

Gonzalez is the only player in NFL history to do it in 15 consecutive seasons.

Gonzalez also has the most consecutive 60-catch seasons with 13. He’s well on his way to achieving another.

And he’s still one touchdown away from 100 for his career.

Savor the moment, Falcons fans. You’re watching a special one.

Falcons fans across the country have asked the same question over and over: Where’s the love, man?

The national media is coming around slowly but surely, but Falcons fans are feeling a bit jilted by the weekly snub.

The Falcons in the locker room, however, aren’t too concerned. Even if there was a slew of attention, they’d tune it out.

“Me, personally, I don’t really care if they notice or not,” cornerback Asante Samuel said. “I’m a guy who’s been fighting for respect my whole life, so it don’t really matter to me if we get the respect or not. As long as we get to where we need to get and do what we need to do, I’m happy.”

Tight end Tony Gonzalez expressed his thoughts over the lack of attention before Sunday’s game, but also added that the Falcons don’t really care about it.

As far as Samuel is concerned, the Falcons — regardless of the attention they get, or will get — are as focused as any locker room he’s ever been in.

“We’ve got veteran leadership over here,” Samuel said. “It’s how we approach the game every day. We go to practice, we practice hard, we play hard and we know what’s expected. We want to win. We want to make the city proud. It means a lot to us.”

Through the first six weeks of the season, the answer to how to keep up with the Falcons seemed fairly simple: To run with the Falcons, you, too, must run.

After the past two games, it might not be so simple anymore. After giving up 100 yards rushing in each of the previous six games, the Falcons have held their past two opponents to less than 100, leaving the Falcons with the impression Sunday night that they’re making progress.

“Every week, we want to improve in everything that we do — run, pass game, tackling, getting to the ball,” said defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux, who finished Sunday’s game with seven tackles and a sack. “Every week we step out there, we want to improve and I think guys are starting to come along and are starting to gel together in the run game.”

The Falcons held the Cowboys — without their top rusher DeMarco Murray — to just 65 rushing yards. The week before against Philadelphia, the defensive unit held the LeSean McCoy-led Eagles to 92.

The Falcons credit the sudden turnaround to gelling better as a defense. The first six weeks of the season provided a bit of a learning curve with Mike Nolan’s new system.

“The more we play, the better we strive to get,” linebacker Stephen Nicholas said. “We’re looking to next week to get even better.”

The Falcons have ruled starting right guard Garrett Reynolds out of Sunday night’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, which means rookie guard Peter Konz will likely get the second straight start of his NFL career.

Konz started for Reynolds last week in a win over Philadelphia even though Reynolds was active for the game. Konz played all the offensive snaps and the second-rounder put together a strong performance in his first start.

“After viewing the film, I thought he had a very solid game,” head coach Mike Smith said Monday. “It was a situation where you’re a rookie and you’re playing your first game and you’re playing against a defensive line that’s very talented. Cullen Jenkins is the starter, but they rotated guys and had different guys lining up against him and I thought Peter handled it extremely well.”

Konz will likely spend most of his time Sunday against Cowboys DT Jason Hatcher and NT Jay Ratliff.

Kroy Biermann will crush your dreams and your face.

Here’s a look at what the Falcons were saying during their media period in the locker room Thursday:

RB Jacquizz Rodgers on getting more carries: “I’ve just got to do my best when my opportunity comes up and just take advantage of it so my number will be called more.”

DE Kroy Biermann on how often he’s asked to do new things in Mike Nolan’s defense: “Here and there. As a defensive end, we dropped into coverage in the past four years when I was here, too. Obviously, some of those things change with your responsibilities, but dropping here and there, and rushing, hitting different gaps — a lot of it is the same, but some of it’s different.”

Biermann on playing special teams in addition to defense: “Yeah, I’ve still got to run down there on them kicks and knock some heads off. That’s fun. I’ve always loved that and (special teams coordinator) Keith (Armstrong) gets us right. Every weekend, he’s ready to roll and his energy is crazy, so I love covering kicks for him.”

LB Akeem Dent on the number of snaps fluctuating each game: “It’s different. My thing is to always be prepared. Preparation always meets opportunity. You never know when one of the guys, when we’re gonna have an injury in the game and things like that, just like what happened last week. Something’s happened and, snap, I’m the next guy in, so you always have to be prepared.”

TE Tony Gonzalez on the Cowboys being better than their 3-4 record: “If you look at the record in this league, you’ll get you butt kicked. These guys are players, especially on their defense. They’ve got superstars on this team. They’ve got superstars on offense and defense. It’s gonna be a tough game for us to win. They’ve been in what looks like, at least from what I’ve seen, it looks like they’ve kept it close and they’ve beaten some good teams, so it’s gonna be another tough challenge for us.”

Gonzalez on if he’d take a loss to the Cowboys if it meant winning the Super Bowl: “Definitely. Without question. Yeah, I’ll take a loss. Hopefully that doesn’t happen. Hopefully we can do both. That’s the scenario I like.”

S William Moore on what it is going to take to stay undefeated: “Number 1, we’ve got to click on all cylanders — that’s offense, special teams and defense. That’s the best thing about this team right now: We don’t get complacent. Coach Smith does an excellent job of keeping us humble. If you look around the locker room, we look like we haven’t done anything. You’d think we were 0-7 right now from the attitude as far as staying humble and hungry.”

CB Robert McClain on the Georgia Dome crowd helping to cause offensive penalties: “It can change the whole aspect of the game when you get penalties. At a time when you really need to score a touchdown and you get a penalty, it’ll set you back from the points you need. You lose points on the board when you get a lot of penalties.”

Does the key to winning the Super Bowl lie in losing to this guy?

Huge shoutout to ESPN.com NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas on digging this stat up. Pretty amazing. I’m definitely not conflicted about what I want to have happen Sunday, but the obscure stat is eye-popping.

Here’s what Yasinskas found out:

“The Falcons are 7-0 and the NFL’s only unbeaten team. But there have been three occasions since 1991 when the Cowboys faced an undefeated opponent fairly late in the season. Each time, the Cowboys won.

But here’s the kicker: Each time the opponent that got knocked from the unbeaten ranks went on to win the Super Bowl.”

Matt Ryan is hot in 2012, but is JJ Watt hotter? … Wait…

We’ll start this post with once again acknowledging it’s way too early to be discussing the MVP of the entire 2012 season. However, we’ll ignore that fact for a brief moment and point out that NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal has Texans defensive lineman JJ Watt over Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan in that race.

Watt has had a monster year so far with 9.5 sacks and 34 tackles. Simply put: He’s a beast.

Ryan, however, has also put up career numbers with 2,018 yards, 17 touchdowns and a passer rating of 103.

Comparing the two positions is difficult. To me, a quarterback is always going to have a bigger impact than any other position. With the season Watt is having, however, it’s tough to argue that he shouldn’t at least be considered near the top of the list. A defensive player hasn’t won the league’s MVP award since 1986, according to Rosenthal.

What say you?

Falcons fans are holding their breath, waiting to hear determination on whether or not linebacker Sean Weatherspoon will play in Sunday’s game against Dallas. They won’t have to wait much longer.

Head coach Mike Smith said Weatherspoon’s status for Sunday will be decided Thursday after another 24 hours or so to work and heal up. Smith said Weatherspoon was held in the training room during practice Wednesday — and was designated on the Piedmont Healthcare Injury Report as “Did Not Participate” — and is working as hard as he can to be ready to go for Sunday night.

“We want to get him out, see if they can get out here and do something tomorrow,” Smith said. “Sean is a great patient. Just like he’s a great football player, he’s a great patient. If (the training room is) open, he’s there getting treatment… I’ve been very impressed with how those guys (Weatherspoon, Kevin Cone and Garrett Reynolds) have attacked their rehabilitation.”

Weatherspoon left Sunday’s 30-17 win over the Eagles in the second half with an ankle injury.

This is how John Abraham looks at you when he knows he can beat you

Here’s a quick look at some of the things Falcons players and coaches were talking about Wednesday:

John Abraham on Mike Nolan’s defensive system: “It’s just a lot of preparation. It’s more knowledge than it is physical stuff. We do a lot of walk-throughs to make sure everybody knows all the checks, so it’s more than just ‘You do this, you do that.’ It’s more like, ‘What can we do? What can we work with?’ It’s more of a collective thing than someone telling you that you’ve got to be in this spot.”

John Abraham was asked if he thought he’d be back in Atlanta during free agency: “No. I was pretty much gone, then when they hired Mike (Nolan), I called my agent and said, ‘Look, get me back in Atlanta.’ It was a good thing because I was about to go some place else. I was about to take a flight to Tennessee. (Puts his phone to his ear) ‘Look, man. I’m not going. … Nah, I’m gonna stay in Atlanta.’ ‘Are you sure, John?’ ‘No, I ain’t going to Tennesse.’ “

John Abraham on facing young offensive tackles recently: “I try to keep everybody (the same). I don’t care if you’re old or young, I feel like I’m gonna beat you. That’s just common sense. You can’t go into a fight knowing you’re going to lose. It’s kind of pointless, right? So, I go into it looking at everybody the same as in, I’ve got to do my job and my job is to get to the quarterback.”

Stephen Nicholas on Cowboys TE Jason Witten: “With Witten, him being very crafty, him being a veteran, he knows how to get open. He’s kinda like Tony (Gonzalez). But he’s definitely a veteran guy that’s very crafty.”

Michael Turner on what it means that the Falcons rushed for big yardage against Philly: “It means that we can still run the football. We’ve still got to go out there and do things better, but we’re still improving in that area.”

Michael Turner on Matt Ryan’s performance: “This is nothing new to us. We’ve been seeing the improvement year in and year out, and he’s ready to take things to the next level.”

Matt Ryan on what the worst part of playing Sunday night is: “I guess waiting around the hotel. That kind of makes for a long day, but night games, they’re fun. They really are, especially in the Dome. Our fans are always crazy when we have night games, so it’s a great environment to play.”

Mike Smith on having such few offensive penalties this year: “I think we’ve done a good job up until this past ballgame. I thought this past ballgame, we had some silly penalties. Not necessarily on the offensive side — we had illegal procedure and were lined up wrong one time on the offensive side, but I think it’s an emphasis point. It’s something that we talk about every first meeting of the week. We put it up. We have a penalty report. We keep track of our penalties, who’s actually having them — whether they’re offensive penalties, defensive penalties, special teams penalties — whether they’re on third down, because a third-down penalty is weighted much heavier than a first-down penalty, or if it happens in the fourth quarter. I think it’s an emphasis point that we have instilled in our guys, that we don’t want to be penalized. We want to understand what we can do.”

Say, Drew, you’re gonna wanna keep that ball.

Drew Davis could hardly believe what had happened to the point where he just stopped thinking.

Wide open in the back of the end zone, Davis made a great catch and an even greater effort to get both of his feet in bounds to score the first touchdown of his NFL career. Davis waited for the signal from the ref, and once he got it, he threw the ball into the air and started celebrating with Roddy White and Julio Jones.

Most players keep the ball from their first touchdown. Davis was too busy having fun.

“Everyone asked what I was thinking. The problem was, I wasn’t thinking,” Davis said with a smile Wednesday. “Your mind just goes blank. You can’t really think about anything. You don’t really know what’s going on at the time, but Coach Smith grabbed me as I was coming to the sideline and asked me if I had the ball, and I knew I didn’t have it so I told him no. We kind of laughed about it a little bit.”

One of the Falcons’ equipment staff members was able to track the ball down for Davis, so it’s safely in his possession now, but one thing Davis can’t lose is the memory of that special moment.

A few plays earlier, Davis recorded his first catch of his NFL career — a converted third down that kept his scoring drive alive. When it came time to run the scoring play later on the drive, Davis took two steps into his route and found himself wide open.

“You think there’s something wrong when you get that wide open. I didn’t know if a whistle blew or something, or if they bit on Julio that hard,” Davis said. “After I got past (the defender), I just looked up and tried to relax as much as possible.”

The Falcons continue to crush the competition on the field and in the rankings

It’s almost like we don’t even need this post. I mean, we all know where the Falcons are ranked, right?

NFL.com Power Rankings – “Now that is how a team plays when it’s Best in Show. Even the most faithful Falcons fans had to process a concern (or two) while watching their team let clubs like the Panthers, Redskins and Raiders hang around. Atlanta dominated the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at the Linc, with the most telling statistic being … well, take your pick: Matt Ryan’s 137.4 passer rating, the 32:55 time of possession, converting over half its third downs, rushing for 146 yards or holding LeSean McCoy to 45 yards rushing. Of course, Andy Reid helped in that last category, but the Falcons didn’t need bad coaching assistance.”

NFL.com Week 9 Power Poll – The Falcons earned two more first-place votes than last week from the panel of 13 NFL.com and NFL Network experts.

ESPN.com Power Rankings – “The Falcons needed until Nov. 27 to score their seventh victory last season.”

CBSSports.com Power Rankings – “At 7-0, they are a different team than the one that went 13-3 two years ago. Why? They can throw it around on anybody.”

FoxSports.com Power Rankings – “Quarterback Matt Ryan was 17 of 20 with three touchdown passes in the first half against the Eagles Sunday, leading the Falcons to their first 7-0 start in team history. The Falcons now have an astounding four-game lead in the NFC South.”

Bleacher Report Power Rankings – “The Atlanta Falcons are the NFL’s only unbeaten team. Critics said they hadn’t played a good team yet. Well, they’ve now taken down the Denver Broncos and the Philadelphia Eagles. What more do we expect? The Falcons haven’t been stopped yet this year, and really, that’s all that matters. While they might be challenged by the Texans, 49ers, Giants or Bears, right now no one has been able to play well enough for 60 minutes to take down the Falcons. Much of the credit in Atlanta goes to head coach Mike Smith and new coordinators Dirk Koetter and Mike Nolan, but the uncontested MVP has been quarterback Matt Ryan. Ryan is playing on a level never before seen in his bright NFL career.”

Pro The fellas at Pro Football Weekly sum it up here: ootball Weekly – “Potentially the least talked about 7-0 team ever?” Here’s my commentary on this one: YES!!!!!!!!!!

Macon.com Power Rankings – Macon.com’s Daniel Shirley has the Falcons on top.
